CCA relies on volunteers for much of our work in the Upstate. Support is often needed at the shelter, thrift store, special events, and the feral cat colony program. Whatever your interests, we have an opportunity for you to assist!

shelter support

Dependable, enthusiastic volunteers are often needed to assist at the shelter on Sunday mornings and weekdays, scheduled in advance. Volunteer activities include cleaning, feeding, walking and socialization of the animals as well as facility support through minor maintenance and landscaping activities.

VOLUNTEER HOURS:

Sunday 9am-12pm

Monday 1pm-5pm

Tuesday 1pm-5pm

Wednesday 1pm-5pm

Thursday 1pm-7pm

Friday 1pm-3:30pm

Saturday 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm

Due to the interactions with our animals, we require that minors volunteering with our dogs be at least 16 years old (with parental consent) and minors volunteering with our cats be at least 12 years old (and accompanied by a parent). Orientation and completion of the Fear Free Shelter modules is required for all new shelter volunteers.

community cat colony program support

CCA provides aid in stabilizing community (feral) cat colonies through a Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) process that helps control breeding among colony members. Volunteer support is critical for these activities, including setting, monitoring and transporting traps; transporting cats to and from veterinary clinics, and providing a “holding area” (such as a garage) where the cats can be kept prior to re-release into their colony. Training is required.

second chances thrift shop support

There are several opportunities to support the Second Chances Thrift Shop in Greenville. This includes customer support, cleaning and donation processing and restocking shelves.

Thrift store volunteers must be over the age of 16.

donation collection

Oftentimes, our generous supporters donate items for our shelter and thrift store but do not have a means to transport the item(s) to our locations. We have need volunteers who are able to transport donations from donors to the thrift store or shelter during the week.

special events

CCA frequently participates in special events across the Upstate focused on animal welfare and adoptions. These events are targeted primarily towards community outreach and fundraising. We also often attend adoption events with our resident dogs and cats in hopes of finding them forever homes. Volunteers are needed to help staff these events by providing set-up or tear-down support, animal transport and care at the event.

Most events are for volunteers over the age of 16. However, there are occasional opportunities for minors over the age of 12 to participate with parental supervision.

Skilled and Trade Volunteers

Do you have a skilled trade? Are you a landscaper, plumber, carpenter, roofer or electrician? Do you have a professional expertise, such as photography, design or communications, from which CCA could benefit? If so, your skills are needed!
