Founded in 1980, Concerned Citizens for Animals (CCA) is the oldest no-kill shelter in Upstate South Carolina. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is proud to celebrate 43+ years of improving the lives of homeless animals in our region.

Through our shelter operation in Simpsonville, thrift store in Greenville and a variety of community service programs, CCA offers a second chance to neglected, stray and abandoned animals. CCA’s outreach provides treatment, care and a safe haven for feline and canine residents until they are adopted into forever homes.

The combined efforts of dedicated board members, shelter staff and active volunteers create a powerful influence in the lives of animals in our care and the community we serve.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support homeless, stray and abandoned animals in our community through the most humane means possible. Specifically, CCA shall:

  • Operate an animal shelter for abandoned, sick, injured and otherwise homeless animals.

  • Maintain an adoption program to permanently place homeless animals in approved homes.

  • Provide a low-cost spay/neuter program for the community.

  • Strive to prevent or stop abuse, neglect or otherwise inhumane treatment of any animal.

  • Euthanize no animal unless it is beyond medical care and/or in a situation where suffering would be the permanent result of medical treatment.
