Founded in 1980, Concerned Citizens for Animals (CCA) is the oldest no-kill shelter in Upstate South Carolina. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is proud to celebrate nearly 40 years of improving the lives of homeless animals in our region.
Through our shelter operation in Simpsonville and our thrift store in Greenville as well as through a variety of community service programs, CCA offers a second chance to neglected, stray and abandoned animals. CCA’s outreach provides treatment, care and a safe haven for our feline and K-9 residents until they are adopted into their forever homes.
The combined efforts of an involved management team, a dedicated caretaker, and an active volunteer force create a powerful influence in the lives of those animals in our care and those in the community we serve.
Our mission is simple: to support homeless, stray and abandoned animals in our community through the most humane means possible. Specifically, CCA shall:
Operate an animal shelter for abandoned, sick, injured and otherwise homeless animals.
Maintain an adoption program to permanently place homeless animals in approved homes.
Provide a low-cost spay/neuter program for the community.
Strive to prevent or stop any abuse, neglect or otherwise inhumane treatment of any animal.
Commit to not euthanize any animal unless it is beyond medical care and/or in a situation where suffering would be the permanent result of medical treatment.
